The initial fee is $150 and includes a specialist review of the injury details, a treatment plan, and coordination of the next steps. This is not claimable through Medicare.
However, patients may be able to receive full or partial reimbursement through their school or sports club insurance, depending on the policy.
Skin+Bone surgeons complete a virtual assessment using the information and imaging you provide. If it is deemed that your injury requires surgery, you may have a phone or in-person appointment with a surgeon before your operation or on the day of surgery.
If you are unlikely to require surgery but further physical examination is needed to confirm this, Skin+Bone will contact you to arrange an in-person clinical assessment of the injury. This will be done by one of the specialists in the network (surgeon, sports physician or allied health practitioner).
Over 60% of the injuries Skin+Bone manage do not need surgery, but getting a specialist opinion early is important to ensure patients receive the right treatment within the right timeframe.

In most cases, the answer is yes. Regardless of how your injury is managed, immobilisation of the injury is often required. Many injuries benefit from supervised rehabilitation; this can involve a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or other allied health practitioner. If this is required, Skin+Bone will organise it for you.
Allied Health costs vary depending on the clinic, whether immobilisation is required, and the type of immobilisation fabricated.
